About this tour

Evening Dubai Desert Safari

Not every great experience needs to be exclusive. The Evening Dubai Desert Safari delivers the full heart of what a desert evening in the UAE looks like — the thrill of the dunes, the warmth of a Bedouin camp, the smell of grilled meat in the evening air, and a sky full of stars that the city never lets you see. It does all of this in a shared setting, alongside other travellers from across the world, which more often than not ends up being a highlight of its own.

This is the tour that the overwhelming majority of Dubai’s visitors take home as their favourite memory. Not the tallest building, not the biggest mall — the desert. There is something about leaving the city behind, watching the skyline disappear in the rearview mirror, and arriving into that vast, silent landscape that gets to people every time. We have been running this tour long enough to know that it consistently delivers, and we do not put our name on something that does not.

If you are travelling solo, as a couple, or as a small group looking to join a larger convoy — this is the one. It is honest, it is well-run, and it gives you an evening in the desert that you will not forget.

Book this one if you want a genuine desert evening at a price that makes sense, with nothing important left out. The dunes are the same, the sky is the same, and the food is cooked the same way it always has been out there — over fire, in the open air, with the smell of the desert all around it.

Good to know before you book

Dune bashing is not recommended for guests who are pregnant, have back or neck conditions, or are prone to motion sickness. These guests are welcome to skip the dune bashing and be taken directly to the camp, where the full evening programme awaits them.

This is a shared tour — your vehicle and camp experience will be alongside other travellers. If you are looking for a private or exclusive desert evening, our Evening Dubai Premium Desert Safari offers a more personalised setup.

Itinerary

Your shared 4x4 departs from your hotel or a nearby pickup point. The vehicle is air-conditioned and comfortably seats your group alongside fellow travellers. The drive to the desert takes around 45 minutes. Your driver will confirm exact pickup details at the time of booking.

The convoy pulls up at a dune crest as the sun drops toward the horizon. The light at this hour is genuinely spectacular — warm, directional, and flattering in photographs. This stop lasts around 15 minutes. Use it well.

The camp is set up in a sheltered dune hollow, lit by lanterns and laid out with traditional Arabic seating. On arrival, you are welcomed with Arabic coffee, fresh dates, and cold lemonade. Henna artists are available near the entrance, and a falconry display is set up for close-up photographs — one of the oldest traditions in the region and always a crowd favourite.

Camel riding is available as an optional add-on at 80 AED per person — book ahead or pay on arrival at the camp. Sandboarding is available on the dune face beside the camp for those who want a bit more action before dinner. Henna application continues at this hour for anyone who wants it.

The dinner spread opens as the sky darkens. The buffet includes grilled chicken, lamb, and beef alongside a full mezze selection — hummus, fattoush, tabbouleh, Arabic breads, and a dessert counter with Om Ali and fresh fruit. Soft drinks, water, and Arabic tea are served throughout. Vegetarian options are available across the buffet.

The evening's entertainment runs in sequence on the main stage. The Tanoura dancer opens — the spinning, colourful performance is mesmerising and one of the most-photographed moments of the night. A fire show follows, performed with real precision by someone who clearly takes the craft seriously. The belly dance performance rounds out the entertainment and draws the whole camp toward the stage.

After the performances the camp settles into its quieter rhythm. The shisha lounge is open, the tea is still flowing, and the desert sky above is properly dark by now — no city glow, no light pollution. This is a good hour to just sit, have another cup of tea, and take it all in before the return journey.

Vehicles depart the camp at approximately 10:00 PM. Most guests are back at their hotels between 10:45 PM and 11:15 PM depending on their pickup location. Your driver will confirm the return schedule at the start of the tour.
